Rotherham United striker Freddie Ladapo has joined Ipswich Town on a free transfer, on a three year deal
Born in Romford the now twenty-eight year old began his career with Colchester United and after various loan spells joined Kidderminster Harriers in 2014. A couple more loan spells saw him score fourteen goals with Grays Athletic before a move to Margate saw him get a trial with Crystal Palace who he signed a two-and-a-half year contract with in March 2016. His only Premier League appearance saw him come off the bench for Palace at Old Trafford in September 2017 and the following month he played in an EFL game against Bristol City, again coming off the bench. While with the Eagles he had loan spells with Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town and in January 2018 he made a permanent move to Southend but was released at the end of the season and joined Plymouth Argyle where he was there top scorer for the 2018/19 season with nineteen goals in all competitions.
Freddie joined the Millers in the summer of 2019 scoring on his debut away at AFC Wimbledon. He went on to find the net another sixteen times that season and nine Championship goals the following season including a cracker which put him in the ‘Millers Hall Of Fame’ against neighbours Sheffield Wednesday to see Rotherham take all three points home from Hillsborough.
After scoring twelve goals this season the twenty-nine year old handed in a transfer request but after nobody allegedly asking about him he went on to make another twelve appearances scoring three times, including the goal at Hillsborough, his last game seeing him come off the bench for an injured Dan Barlaser in our loss at Burton in mid-April. Since then he hasn’t been in the match day squad and didn’t appear on the pitch after the Millers last home game against Ipswich Town with the other members of the squad and back room staff prompting the question of where he was with Millers Manager Paul Warne admitting he didn’t know if he’d been at the ground or not.
