Five Weeks To Go

In five weeks time Rotherham United will be getting ready to take on Brentford at Griffin Park in the first game of the new season.

Some of us were getting a little worried that nothing, absolutely nothing, had happened on the transfer front regarding players coming in this time last week and until tea-time yesterday it looked like we’d be reporting the same thing again this week.

But Paul Warne, who’d said during the week that he wanted players in before Monday when the rest of the team are back for training so they could all start together, brought in striker Kyle Vassell and defender Clark Robertson both from Blackpool.

So that’s two new players in and a promise of at least one more coming in on loan – still no goalkeeper though, but I expect that Warney has all this sorted – I think, I hope.

Also this week we were told that the Millers have sold more than six thousand, two hundred Season Tickets which is four hundred more than last season which can’t be bad, although with us being in a higher division than last season I suppose it was probably expected.

As I said the players return on Monday and midfielder/winger Joe Newell said this week that he was ‘buzzing’ to return.

Next Saturday the Millers take on Parkgate for their first pre-season game of the summer and straight after that they fly to Austria for some intense training as well as two games to play. So we will all be wondering, and waiting, to see if any more new players will be joining before the trip to Austria.
