First Priority – A ‘Keeper

Over the years I’ve seen ‘keepers come and ‘keepers go. I’ve been sorry to see some of them leave, others I was happy to see the back of.

As the Millers go back into the Championship we are in the peculiar position of only having one untried ‘keeper at the club. Now, I’ve nothing at all against Laurence Bilboe and although I’ve never seen him play I have friends who go regularly to the Reserves and comment what a good stopper he is.

The only problem as I can see is that he hasn’t played a first team game for the Millers. Personally I thought he would have got a chance in our Checkatrade Trophy games but didn’t get the call.

But, although Laurence might not have had any game time he has been involved with the first team, many times sat on the bench ready if called upon. That can’t do anything but help although it’s not like actually getting your gloves on and getting between the sticks.

Of course I think Paul Warne will have got things in hand and I am hopeful (fingers crossed, touching black cats, not walking under ladders) that we will be able to secure another years loan with Fulham for Marek Rodak – if not something more.

I just won’t feel settled in my own mind until we get a ‘number one’ in place, will you?
