FA Cup Second Round Stats – Millers v Solihull Moors

|

Rotherham United stunned everyone this evening, including their own fans, to come back from three down to beat National League side Solihull Moors in the second round of the FA Cup.

To be fair the Millers were always on top in the possession percentages without doing much with it until the second half with the stats showing we had sixty-three per cent to the hosts’ thirty-seven.

The duels success rates shows Solihull had fifty-two per cent while the Millers had fifty-five per cent of the aerial duels with Rotherham also having more corners – seven to three. Our passing in our opponents half had a sixty-five per cent accuracy with the shots at goal being about equal – Rotherham having fifteen to Moors’ fourteen with both having seven on target.

I suppose, if we want to label the game it would be called a ‘game of two halves’ with the first forty-five minutes leaving Rotherham fans up and down the country shaking their heads and wishing this game really wasn’t being shown live on TV.

But, in the end, it all worked out fine and we can all breathe a sigh of relief while acknowledging that Solihull Moors are a very good side who came so close to causing the first ‘upset’ of the second round of the Cup.
