Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said that if you get the right performances then you get the wins after getting three points at the New York Stadium today.
Speaking after the three-one win at home to Bolton Wanderers the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield, ‘Three-one doesn’t do it justice today, it could have been a lot more.
‘Given the quality of the opposition I think that was probably our best home performance of the season. We pressed with some real high intensity and played some real good fluent football and created chances. If you create chances you think we are going to take a good percentage of them and maybe our strikers could have had a couple more goals each.
‘When you play Cameron Humphreys in midfield he gives a bit of security and he’s able to say to (Alex) MacDonald, (Shaun) McWilliams and (Joe) Powell go and press the ball and they have a willingness to run. And we were really solid at the back until the last five or six minutes when we got a bit sloppy.
‘The boys have put lots of hours in on the training ground, lots of hard work and you get your rewards and that has been my message to them for the last few weeks and told them the reason for our supporters to get behind them is to give them everything. We fell short of that earlier in the season and nobody knows that more than me.’
Asked about the penalty decision and the yellow card for the Bolton player, Steve said, ‘You and I know he should be sent off. There is no way he could have got to the ball. Mallik (Wilks) was completely wiped out. It’s a contentious decision but one that’s hard to accept. I see a blatant handball for their goal where we will pulled up for the same in the first half.’
Incomings? It’s hope there will be some before the Charlton game next Saturday.
Injuries? It’s hoped Sean Raggett will be fit for next weekend.
