Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans said that the two-nil home win this afternoon was an important one.
Speaking to the Official Site after beating his former team Stevenage at the New York Stadium the Millers Boss said, ‘We knew that today was important for us to win a football match and the players delivered what we asked which was three points.
‘We got a little bit of luck with the first goal but I think that’s the first luck we’ve had all season. The second goal from Mallik (Wilks) is a special finish. Mallik is getting sharper had a good effort in the first half which he should have scored but it was a special finish. I was especially pleased for Jordan Hugill today whose taken a bit of stick here and he changed the game when he came on today.
‘If there’s any disappoint I think we should have got a third or a fourth
‘But I want to talk about Zak Jules who has been in turmoil since he lost his mum in the summer. He cancelled his wedding and he’s been in my office speaking to the care people we have at this football club in tears. I’ve told him that if his mum is looking down on him tonight she’ll be proud of his performance. He got Man of the Match today and we are really proud of him. He took a real rocking to his ankle after the first five or ten minutes today so to stay on for ninety minutes he’s got the heart the size of a lion.
‘At half-time we spoke about being a little more patient, having a little bit more care in the build-up,. This is a team (Stevenage) who have beaten Wrexham, won at Mansfield by one goal to nil but it could have been four or five and I didn’t feel in any form of danger apart from the counterattack.
‘I thought the fans were good in the game today. They were patient with us which I think they knew we needed because we are in the middle of a total transition here and were without huge players. And Shaun McWilliams went down yesterday and so did young Esapa (Osong). So ‘thank you’ to the supporters today who were singing the teams name, my name, that’s support. You don’t need supporters when you are winning every week that was support today ‘thank you’.’

Wowww what can one say Evans talking a load of utter rubbish yet again , it was a poor game with two poor teams we delivered what exactly Evans certainly not a dominant display it was a indifferent display yet again from the millers and it’s becoming a set pattern of play not much idea and hoping they get the win promotion favourites more like mediocre lower table fodder
