Well, I’m sat here shaking my head. I looked at the possession percentage after yesterday’s home game with Derby County and saw that the Millers only had thirty-seven percent.
Now, I did think Derby probably edged that particular stat but really can’t think it was by twenty-six percent – do you?
We did win more of the aerial battles and had more corners than Derby. Our shots on target, according to the stats was six while the Rams had four and we had more shots inside the box while Derby edged the shots from outside the box.
Both teams had four yellow cards awarded – though I do think the Ref had lost the game by the time the cards were being dished out here and there – and Derby ‘won’ on red cards (one to Lawrence and one to Lampard).
I actually thought there were a few niggly tackles yesterday. Once again Michael Smith was being pulled, pushed and poked all over the pitch while it was clearly evident that the player County though might hurt them the most was Ryan Williams who was bullied for the first fifteen minutes before his quickness started to take him away from his marker.
All in all it was a very entertaining game and the only stat that really matters is the one that says ‘Rotherham 1 Derby 0’.
