Did Millers Tire?

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that Leeds are a formidable team to play after today’s two-nil defeat at Elland Road.

Like Warney I thought we did excellently in the first half and had chances – if only we’d taken those chances – matching Leeds all the way. So what on earth happened in the second half I don’t know.

Leeds Manager Marcello Bielsa said in the first half they built too much from the back in the first half but in the second half Rotherham tired which gave Leeds more room to attack.

Did the Millers tire? Not too sure about that. There was still a lot of running in the side when we actually got the ball. Did Leeds just play better? Probably.

Leeds did attack more and Rotherham didn’t seem to know how to stop that. Even when we got the ball away, because we only had one player up front, it was coming straight back every time.

After we’d had such a good first half I’d really have liked to have seen us get another player up front with Michael Smith at the start of the second half – show the opposition that we mean business. I don’t think doing that would have changed our shape an awful lot.

What are your thoughts on that idea?
