Rotherham United have let defender Ben Purrington join AFC Wimbledon on a season long loan.
The twenty-two year old left-back joined the Millers from Plymouth Argyle in January 2017 for a reported fee of £300,000 on a three-and-a-half year contract. His debut came a few days after signing in our one-nil away defeat at Bristol City.
To be fair, I don’t know if Ben, who went on to feature in another nine games in his first season and just twelve last season, ten of which were league games, hasn’t quite lived up to expectation, or wasn’t as good as players in front of him, but not having much game time can’t have done the lad much good.
Let’s hope his minutes on the pitch with Wimbledon bring him back to the Millers for a new start for the 2019/20 season.
All at Vital Rotherham wish Ben all the best for his time at Kingsmeadow.
