Rotherham United have shored up their defence by fetching in former Hull City defender Angus MacDonald on a two year deal – subject to EFL and FA ratification.

Coming through the Youth ranks with Reading Angus signed his first professional contract with the Royals in June 2011. While at the Madejski Stadium had loan spells with Salisbury City, Basingstoke Town, Torquay United and AFC Wimbledon before rejoining Torquay in 2012 for cover.

At the end of the 2012/13 season Angus was released by Reading had various trials before joining Salisbury City on a one year deal. The following season he was back at Plainmoor and was made club captain. In 2016 he joined Barnsley in the Championship being made captain the following season.

After playing over fifty games for Barnsley, Angus moved to their Championship rivals Hull City but early in the 2018/19 season he was taken ill but played again last season for the Tigers in their final five games of the season.

Angus has caps for England at U16 and U19 level as well as England C.
