Rotherham United will be on the look out for a new striker and defender as they get ready to challenge in the Championship with Michael Smith and Michael Ihiekwe both signing for League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

Striker Smith soon became a fans favourite after arriving from Bury in January 2018 coming off the bench two days after arriving for his debut away at Oldham. He scored his first goal in a Millers shirt later that month, going on to score five more that season. In his two hundred and ten appearances in a Rotherham shirt Smudge scored sixty-one goals his best season being the one just gone where he was top scorer with twenty-five goals in fifty-four games. But he wasn’t just about goals, his assists were just as important, as was his all round performance.

Defender Ihiekwe joined the Millers in May 2017 from Tranmere Rovers and scored fourteen times in one hundred and eighty-four games, getting five last season in fifty-two appearances.

Both players were named in the League One Team of the Season last season.

Sad to see you go boys.
