Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart is impressed with what he’s seen of the Millers so far in pre-season.

Telling Freeview that he arrived later than planned yesterday missing the best part of the first half of the two-all draw with Bremen II, Mr Stewart said he was impressed with the intensity of the players.

‘I can see that I think we’ve got a squad this year that’s better than I’ve ever witnessed since I’ve been at Rotherham,’ the Millers Chairman said. ‘It’s exciting.’

Wow! That’s good to hear. I can’t comment as I wasn’t there but Manager Paul Warne is certainly putting the players through their paces – running up and down hills from 7 o’clock in the morning, training, head tennis, playing games – and they didn’t get there until Monday!

Rotherham went ahead yesterday with a Kyle Vassell header with the German side making it two-one before the half-time break yesterday in the behind closed doors game. Michael Smith got an equaliser just after the hour mark for the draw.

The Chairman is staying in Germany for the game on Sunday when the Millers take on FC Magdeburg at the Elm-Stadion as well as ‘taking in a few sights’.

Meanwhile Rob Scott, from the recruitment, is back in Rotherham hoping to get more targets to come to the New York Stadium.
