Rotherham United have held talks with possible new managers, but chairman Peter Ruchniewicz says he will not rush into naming Mick Harford’s successor.

Harford was sacked after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Yeovil, which meant the Millers had gone 17 games without a win.

Coaches Alan Knill and Mark Robins are currently in charge of the first-team in a caretaker basis.

And Ruchniewicz insists the Yorkshire side will take their time in finding the right man to become the next boss.

He told the club’s official website: ‘We know our fans are anxious for further news but I do ask for their patience. The directors held preliminary talks over the weekend and we hope to make a further announcement about the management situation later in the week.

‘We can appreciate there will be a lot of speculation about a replacement. We are deeply conscious as always of doing what, in our judgement, is in the best interests of the club. The board is looking at all the options and at this stage and it would be inappropriate to comment further.’
