Rotherham United’s first cup game of the new season sees Crewe Alexandra at the New York Stadium in the Carabao Cup where the referee is Scott Oldham from Lancashire.

After refereeing in the National League Scott became a League Referee in the 2017/18 season where he was in charge of the Millers three times.

The first time was at the New York Stadium in our five-one win over Walsall when Lee Frecklington got a hat-trick with Jon Taylor scoring the other two in September 2017 with the second time being two months later for our FA Cup game at Gresty Road. Despite Will Vaulks putting Rotherham in front on twenty-one minutes, second half goals from Brad Walker and Callum Ainley saw League Two Crewe through to the next round where they took Blackburn Rovers to a replay before bowing out of the competition. Sean Cummings, Ryan Williams and Kieffer Moore saw yellow for the Millers that day. The third time Scott was in the middle for a Millers game was a Friday afternoon game in March when Caolan Lavery gave hosts Rotherham the lead on sixty-eight minutes only for visitors Peterborough to get a late goal to give them a point to take home with Jack Marriott scoring eight minutes into time added on at the end of the game.

Rotherham United and Scott met twice more in the 2019/20 season the first one being when Oxford were at the New York Stadium in October. Tarique Fosu-Henry opened the scoring for the visitors with Michael Ihiekwe getting an equaliser twelve minutes later. Matty Taylor scored the winner for Oxford in the second half and he was the only player to get a yellow card that afternoon. He was then in charge of our game at the ABAX Stadium in the January when Peterborough took an early lead through Ivan Toney. Their lead was doubled twenty minutes later through Sammie Szmodics with Michael Ihiekwe halving the deficit ten minutes before half-time with the game ending two-one to the Posh.

November 2021 saw Scott in the middle of our League One away game against Charlton Athletic where Mickel Miller gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half-time before a certain Conor Washington equalised for the hosts giving both teams a point. Later that season we met Scott at the Keepmoat Stadium where goals from Miller, Ben Wiles, Chieo Ogbene, a Dan Barlaser penalty and another from Jamie Lindsay saw Rotherham win five-nil.

Last season Scott was in the middle for forty-one games showing one hundred and nineteen yellow cards and eight red.

Graeme Fyvie and Paul Newhouse run the line on Tuesday night with Aaron Bannister the Fourth Official.
