Can We Believe These Stats – Millers Away At Swansea

Rotherham United away at Swansea City – last season’s Premier League side taking on last season’s League One Wembley winners. It was never going to be easy for us travelling Millers.

5am get up time (I only usually do that when I’m going on holiday!) and it was quite an easy journey to the seaside of Swansea although the narrow streets in a coach where we met fast Welsh drivers coming the other way who really didn’t want to but had to stop for us was an adventure. We stopped at a nice pub with staff who were welcoming and had hot meals. Our trip to the stadium from there was stop/start and busy but we made it with fifteen minutes to spare and my disabled friend and I went up in the lift to our seats which were very handy to take our place with around four hundred other Millers.

Now, as I said it was an early start so I might have fallen to sleep BUT there is no way in this wide world that the person who does the stats and I were at the same game.

Listen to this fellow Millers who were at the game – Possession – Swansea 71% Rotherham 29%. It has to be a joke! I have checked on various sites and they all say the same. I am dumbstruck, dumbfounded and am all for calling the Stats person a liar, which isn’t a word I use often.

Shaking my head I looked at other stats – crossing accuracy was around the same – 31% for the Swans, 32% for the Millers. Passing accuracy in opponents half was 83% for the hosts with Rotherham’s being 54% – not sure about that stat either. Shots were sixteen to us and fifteen for City with both having eight on target.

Look for yourselves but I’m beginning to wonder if even looking at the stats is worth it?
