With Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne self-isolating, Assistant Manager Richie Barker did the honours after today’s four-one home loss to high fliers Watford.

Speaking to iFollow Millers a poorly sounding Barker said he was disappointed with the goals conceded this evening.

‘It was a difficult night,’ the Millers Number Two said, ‘but I was disappointed with the manner of the goals against a very good team full of ex-Premier League players. But because of the difficulty of the last two weeks we have to think of the fact that we’ve even got the game going ahead while the players have given everything they’ve got. Everything was just a bit alien tonight.’

We did look very disorganised for the goals in the first half, our players didn’t seem to know where they were standing or who they were marking for set-pieces but, I do believe, they tried their best under difficult circumstances looking jaded but carrying on.

‘We could have made the game a little bit tricky for them (Watford) in the last twenty minutes,’ Richie carried on. ‘We missed a penalty, Crooksy missed a header from a yard out and it was a great finish and a great positive for Freddie (Ladapo) and a monumental effort from Woody (Richard Wood). To come back and train for just one day while we have lads who have been laid up with Covid and not felt like doing anything then to play in a Championship game I was a bit worried about one or two of them.

‘But it was really about getting the game completed, getting minutes into people and moving on.’

Another cracker of a goal from Freddie Ladapo tonight, what a shame it will probably get overlooked because of the score line.
