Rotherham United have re-signed Richie Towell from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Midfielder Richie joined the Millers on the final day of the summer transfer window last year on a season long loan and went on to make forty-five appearances, his first one being off the bench in our one-nil win away at Portsmouth.

His next game saw him come off the bench just before half-time at home to Bury where he scored the winning goal in a three-two thriller in the final minute of the game. The twenty-seven year olds first start was three days later in our five-one win at the New York Stadium against Walsall.

Richie’s last game was at Wembley in Rotherham’s League One Play-Off Final win against Shrewsbury Town.

Born in Dublin he spent most of his Youth career with Crumlin United moving to Scotland with Celtic in 2007. Three years later he made his professional debut, and only game, for the Bhoys. The midfielder spent some loan time with Hibernian before December 2012 saw him join Irish side Dundalk, helping them win back-to-back titles.

November 2015 saw Richie join Brighton and he played five times for them, and twice for their U23 side in the Football League Trophy. His last league game for Brighton was in March 2017 against Rotherham, although he did play in an EFL Cup game before joining the Millers.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Richie back to the Millers.
