A Quick Preview – Millers Away At Cardiff

|

Rotherham United’s last game of the season is also their most important of the season and could see them managing to stay in the Championship or see them drop back to League One.

The Millers travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to take on the Bluebirds who missed out on a play-off place by a number of points sitting in eighth place going into this game.

City’s last game was a four-nil away win against Birmingham City while they beat Wycombe in their last home game a fortnight earlier. This will be the Millers third game in May, the others both being draws the last one being goalless at Luton on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Cardiff’s Official Site their Manager Mick McCarthy said that, ‘We want to finish strongly and for integrity of the league, we have to have our strongest team out .’

Cardiff will be without long term injured Joe Bennett and Lee Tomlin and former Miller’s favourite Will Vaulks is missing due to suspension.

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne told the Millers Official Site that his Rotherham team will have to be at their ‘very best’ which ever team Cardiff put out on Saturday saying, ‘You want to win at everything and Mick McCarthy or his players will not to lose his final game of the season. We have to win regardless and we know that if we don’t win then our fate is sealed. We need to pick players who are going to go into it with their sleeves rolled up saying ‘it isn’t going to be on my watch that we lose this on’, because Cardiff are obviously a team with unbelievable ability and have warriors themselves.’

Paul Warne will be without George Hirst who suffered a hamstring injury in the home draw with Blackburn Rovers but there is good news that Angus MacDonald is thought to be fit with Joe Mattock, who came off the bench on Tuesday, almost certain to be in the travelling squad again.

Oxfordshire’s Graham Scott is the man in the middle for this game.
