Rotherham United players returned to training this week after their summer break – a week that’s been quite a busy one at the New York Stadium.

On Monday we found out that the Millers had put in a bid for a striker from Plymouth Argyle and on Tuesday Freddie Ladapo signed in, which according to the Gaffer took weeks and weeks to make it happen.

The following day we saw winger Ryan Williams leave to join former Millers Manager Kenny Jackett at Portsmouth but the day after he was ‘replaced’ (?) by French winger Julien Lamy, which, to be fair, had been on the cards for some weeks.

Also leaving Rotherham this week was Will Vaulks who made his way to join another former Millers Manager, Neil Warnock, at Cardiff. Millers Manager, Paul Warne speaking to Freeview likened Vaulks’ story to ‘Disney movie’ saying that he deserves to still be in the Championship.

We also had the news that we’d been expecting that Anthony Forde wouldn’t be at the New York Stadium next season, although there is no news, yet, that he has found himself another club.

Darren Potter, who suffered with injuries since joining the Millers two years ago, and was let go at the end of the season has joined Tranmere Rovers. There is also news of a former Millers loanee Sean Raggett whose loan from Norwich City was cut short with Rotherham last season due to injury.  I was hoping he might be one of the ‘ex-players’ who are supposed to be wanting to come back to Rotherham.  But, no, he’s joined Portsmouth on a season long loan this week.

There have been rumours going around this week regarding goalkeepers, one who Warney himself has refuted saying he has ‘no idea’ where it came from although he has said that the Millers definitely need a ‘keeper and as he’s going to be asking a lot of the full-backs this coming season he wants another one of those too. He’s also said that he thinks the midfield is stronger than it was last year but would like another one in. All in all, Warney is hoping to get another three over the line before the squad travel to Germany next weekend.

Hearing that the club will be bringing another three in next week – would think they will all be loans though
