A Quick Look At The Trophy Stats – Millers v Rovers

Rotherham United scored six goals this evening in the Papa John Trophy against neighbours Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Three up after sixteen minutes – thanks to goals from Mickel Miller, Freddie Ladapo and an own goal by the Rovers’ ‘keeper – Rotherham got another three in the second half Will Grigg and Jacob Hull both scoring on their debuts and Joe Mattock rounding it off five minutes from time. And, in fairness, it could have been more.

Rovers had fifty-three per cent possession with the Millers winning sixty-one per cent of the aerial duels and having eight corners to the hosts’ three. Our passing accuracy came out as sixty-eight per cent – Doncaster’s being three per cent better – and sixty per cent in our opponents half.

Defensively we had twenty tackles to fifteen with eighty per cent of those being successful while Rovers gave away ten fouls to our nine and the only player booked was Joe Mattock.

The Millers had a massive twenty-three shots on goal, nine on target and fourteen from inside the box.

Rotherham now top the Northern Group ‘E’ Table.
