A Quick Look At The Millers v Norwich Stats

Rotherham United were beaten by top of the table Norwich City at Carrow Road yesterday, again, by the odd goal. Not that I’m saying Norwich couldn’t have scored more but because of some good blocks from our defenders (particularly Clark Robertson), some good goalkeeping from Viktor Johansson and some poor misses they didn’t.

The stats say that Norwich had sixty per cent of possession and I don’t think I can argue with that. The Millers won more aerial duels and had five corners to the hosts’ three (we really have to start turning some of those corners into goals).

Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out as forty-six per cent with City’s being sixty-two per cent while we had nine shots at goal of which two were on target, four of those shots being from outside the box – Norwich had thirteen shots of which four were on target.

While the Millers conceded seventeen fouls (did we? not so sure about that) Norwich conceded eight less and the only yellow card of the game went to Michael Ihiekwe of Rotherham.

Our last two games have both been away and both against teams that came down from the Premier League last season both of which are in the top six in the table and I think if anyone had said we would have just two goals scored against us in our last two games it would have made people sit up and think. If we get to play these two teams again next year, or teams in similar positions, then it would be really great to be able to keep clean sheets against them – and, I don’t think, impossible.
