A Quick Glance At Yesterday’s Stats – Millers v Canaries

|

Rotherham United didn’t pick up any points at Carrow Road against leaders Norwich City yesterday despite going in at half-time with a one-nil lead.

I don’t think many people will argue that we were as good – if not a little better – than the Canaries in the first half, having more shots on goal in that first forty-five minutes.

But, equally I don’t think there’s any doubt that Norwich were the better side in the second half. They obviously scored three times – the first a well worked goal the second and third the way I was looking at it were definite defensive errors. It happens and before the game began who would actually have put money on the Millers getting anything from this game?

I know some of us, me included, say we need to hold on to a lead, especially away from home, but it was always going to be difficult to hold on for eighty or so minutes.

Norwich ended the game in top spot, the Millers down one to twentieth on goal difference. And, it might be worse if Millwall win away at West Brom this afternoon.

We’ve got our first away South Yorkshire derby next weekend – I think we need to be taking a point from that, don’t you?
