A Look At The Stats – Millers Away At Oxford

Rotherham United kept a clean sheet while taking a point away at a freezing cold Kassam Stadium yesterday afternoon to keep them top of League One.

But what do those stats tell us?

Firstly it’s our eyes that tell us we perhaps should have got more from the game but, as we all know, you don’t always get what you deserve do you.

The Millers came out with fifty-six per cent of the possession but saw Oxford win fifty-eight per cent of the aerial duels although it was almost equal in all duel successes. The visitors had nine corners to Oxford’s three while our passing accuracy in our opponents half was fifty-two per cent.

Attack wise we had fifteen shots at goal with just one being on target and nine of those shots being inside the area. Hmm, really?. Of the nine shots the U’s had, five of those were on target.

We conceded eleven fouls to Oxford’s nine and of the six yellow cards issued five were to Rotherham players.

In my humble opinion I think the weather played its part in yesterday’s game although, obviously, it was the same for both sides. And I do wonder if we play with smaller goals!!!

As I’ve said before a point away from home is a good result – how many points away from home would we have taken last season?
