A Disappointing Defeat As Rotherham’s Unbeaten Run Comes To An End – Match Stats

Rotherham United made the trip to Bramall Lane to face promotion hopefuls Sheffield United in today’s earlier Championship kickoff.

Rotherham went into the tie unbeaten in the last six as the side continued their push to move out of the relegation places in the second tier, but it took the hosts only five minutes to open the scoring. United did dominate the tie and things only got worse for manager Paul Warne when Will Vaulks saw a straight red just ahead of the half hour mark in the tie. Second half the hosts doubled their advantage and the game ended 2-0.

Defeat sees the side remain third from bottom but it was a South Yorkshire Derby to forget in many ways, certainly when you look at the possession statistics from the tie, and the less said about a failure to get a single shot on target is probably for the better.

Queens Park Rangers next.
