At Crewe this afternoon, Rotherham United will be lookng for their first win on March 24th since 1951.
Just 2 wins have come from 13 games played on this date over the years.

Last time out was in promotion year 2001.
The Millers sat proud at the top of Division 2 after a famous 1-0 midweek win in the snow at Wycombe, which made it 4 wins on the trot and 9 wins from the last 10.
However on March 24th 2001, we faced Oxford United at the old Manor Ground, who were 25 points from safety at the foot of the league.
In what was a great game for the neutrals, Robert Quinn opened a surprise lead for the home side on 6 minutes.
Mark Robins equalised after 24 with his 20th goal of the season, only to go behind again 3 minutes later with a goal from Emmanuel Omoyinmi.
Omoyinmi got his second after 59 to give the rock bottom U’s a 3-1 lead.
Guy Branston then reduced the arrears 2 minutes later to give The Millers fresh hope.
Andy Scott, the brother of then Rotherham defender Rob, made it Oxford 4 Rotherham 2 on 67 minutes, but the goals didn’t end there and an Alan Lee strike 10 minutes from time made it a very tense finish for both sides.
4-3 to Oxford and the 4,493 present at the game had witnessed a classic.

The Millers last point gained on this day was 17 years ago at Leyton Orient.
First half goals from Orient’s Danny Carter and Rotherham’s Pat Heard gave both sides a point each.

The last victory came in 1951 with a 2-0 win over Halifax Town at Millmoor, Norman Noble and Jack Shaw netting for Rotherham.
